*THE JOYOUS LAND OF MYRIAD DEITIES

Guru Yoga of Je Tsong Khapa

O King of the Dharma, Omniscient Lord, Losang Drakpa,
Please come here with your spiritual sons,
Riding atop a billowing cloud like fresh white curd
From the heart of the Lord of Tushita
―that Joyous Land of Myriad of Deities.

In the space before me on a lion throne with cushions of lotus and moon
You sit, Lama Tsong Khapa, radiating a brilliant smile of delight.
Please stay for hundreds of eons as a field supreme for the merit of the faithful
And continue to spread the Buddha’s holy teachings.

I prostrate to you whose intelligence encompasses all that is known,
Whose eloquent speech adorns the ears of the fortunate,
Whose beautiful body blazes with the glory of renown,
Who only to see, hear, or recall conveys exceptional meaning.

Refreshing water for drinking and the beauty of flowers,
Fragrant incense and lamps of brilliant illumination, perfumed water and the like,
Both actual things and oceanic clouds of manifested delights merely imagined,
These I offer to you, supreme field of merit.

With keen regret I confess from the depths of my heart
Each and every non-virtue I’ve done by body, speech, and mind
Accumulated over the span of time without beginning,
And especially any transgression of the three types of vows.

O Protector, truly I rejoice in the work you’ve done
To give meaning to your life of leisure and fortune
Through prodigious learning and practice in these times of degeneration
And by rejecting the taint of the eight worldly dharmas.

O Venerable Holy Lamas, gather dense clouds
Of wisdom and compassion in Dharmakaya space
And rain down a Dharma both vast and profound
Upon disciples who each has a way
to be tamed that’s unique.

Whatever virtue I’ve accumulated by this practice
May it bring benefit to all beings and be an aid to the teachings.
And, in particular, may the essential instructions of Losang Drakpa
Bring light to our minds for many eons to come.

May my wisdom of listening, contemplation, and meditation increase!
May I become adept at teaching, debate, and composition!
Please grant me the common and supreme attainments,
And bless me that I quickly become like you!

May there arise the wisdom of innate great bliss!
May the erroneous stains of self-grasping vanish!
May the treacherous net of doubt be cut!
Please bless me that I quickly become like you!
(repeat these two verses 3x)

mik me tse we ter chen chen re sik
dri me kyen pe wang po jam pel yang
dü pung ma lü jom dze sang we dak
gang chen ke pe tsuk gyen tsong kha pa
lo sang drak pe shab la söl wan deb

(recite 7x, 21x, or more)

O Avalokiteshvara, great treasury of unconditioned compassion,
O Mañjushri, lord of immaculate knowledge,
O Vajrapani, destroyer of all hosts of demons,
O Venerable Tsong Khapa, crown ornament of
scholar-yogis of the Land of Snows,
I entreat you to please grant me your blessings.

O precious glorious Root Lama,
Please stay on the lotus and moon seat in my heart
To care for me with the immensity of your kindness,
And grant the siddhis of your body, speech, and mind.

O precious glorious Root Lama,
Please stay on the lotus and moon seat in my heart
To care for me with the immensity of your kindness,
And grant me the common and supreme siddhis.

O precious glorious Root Lama,
Please stay on the lotus and moon seat in my heart
To care for me with the immensity of your kindness,
And remain firmly until I attain the essence of Buddhahood.

In all my lives may Je Tsong Khapa
Be my Mahayana teacher and
May I never turn away even for an instant
From this noble path that is praised by the Buddhas.

May I experience the glory of the Dharma in all my lives
Without being deprived ever of most excellent lamas and,
Having accomplished the virtues of the grounds and paths,
May I swiftly achieve the status of Buddha Dorjechang.
